Gender Inequality
Here we'll discuss how gender inequality is researched and debated, how social policy is determined and implemented, and how gender intersects with race, class, sexuality to change our lives and the choices we make.
These discussions are designed to challenge current perspectives, deepen awareness, and inspire activism on issues like equal pay for work of equal value, day care provisions, maternity and paternity leaves, the "supermom" syndrome, cultural pressures for women to marry, body image, gay and lesbian marriage, social conditioning of young boys and girls, media messaging to children, gender stereotyping, harassment, date rape, and affirmative action.
