Tang Dynasty

The Tang Dynasty is considered one of the most important dynasties in Chinese history, lasting 289 years, from 618 to 907. As Chinese dynasties usually do, the Tang Dynasty started in violence, but soon the emperor moved to unify the country. China reached new heights under the reign of a subsequent emperor, Taizong, who established a civil service system as well as fair taxation policies. A few years later, Wu Zetian went from being a concubine to empress, and was the only woman to ever rule China.

Once prosperous, the dynasty began a decline and ended as it had begun, in violence, with poisoning emperors and other political machinations.
