Freshwater Fish

There are literally thousands of different species of freshwater fish available for aquarists to keep. These various species range from all over the world, from the common to the very exotic, and offer the aquarist hundreds of different aquascapes and region-specific tanks to set up. Popular groups that are commonly kept include catfish, cichlids, characin (tetra), koi, and goldfish, to name a few.

Keeping fish successfully is a matter of research: knowing what foods to provide, what water conditions are required to keep the fish healthy, and determining what types of fish can live together peacefully.

The most important aspect of keeping fish, however, is the passion of the aquarist. The life of these animals hinges upon the commitment, work, and knowledge of those keeping them.
