Fables
Fables are short stories, often involving animals with anthropomorphic characteristics, that teach a moral. For children, fables teach ethical lessons - slow and steady wins the race, don't cry wolf - in an enjoyable, non-threatening way. For adults, fables can be windows into different cultures and historical traditions. Suite 101 has recommends and commentary on traditional fables, like those of Aesop and La Fontaine, and newer tales that reflect the changing ethics of modern times.
