Bolivia
Despite sitting on huge reserves of natural gas most of Bolivia's estimated 10 million inhabitants live below the poverty line indicting the range of problems that hammer this landlocked South American nation. President Evo Morales has attempted to redress some of the inequalities but finds himself in a continual struggle between the lush eastern lowlands near to Brazil and the impoverished altiplano around La Paz. Bolivia is a country of contrasts and contradictions and due to harsh economic conditions this looks set to continue.
