Bhutan Travel

The tiny Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan has embraced the modern world, from mobile phones to democratic elections, but its traditional culture is as strong as ever. Buddhism remains the cornerstone of Bhutanese society, encouraging respect for all living things, king, monks, family and elders and the natural world. From lowlands to high peaks, nature is pristine and every effort is made to keep it so.

Add colourful festivals, fabulous arts and crafts, free healthcare and education and Bhutan may well be dubbed the last Shangri La. Where else in the world would success be measured in Gross National Happiness?
