Australian/NZ TV
The two main Australian networks – Australian Broadcasting Commission (ABC) and Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) – both make local programmes publicly funded with Australian cast and crew; medical and crime dramas are the most popular alongside comedy shows.
The state owned TVNZ dominates New Zealand broadcasting. Most of its content is imported from the USA but it does make some local drama. NZ also has a solid film and television industry producing content for other countries and is the home of Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson’s Weta studios.
