Animated Art
Animation is an optical illusion created by rapidly displaying sequences of images or puppets in order to simulate movement. The phenomenon of persistence of vision is created as images flicker so quickly in front of the eye that it seems they are in motion.
Animation started way back in the Paleolithic cave painting days, when animals were depicted with multiple sets of legs in superimposed positions. Today cartoon animation is probably considered to be animation in its classic form. An exciting aspect of animation is that it has evolved into an avante garde art form. These articles will cover the full range from prehistoric magic etchings to hyper real fantasy.
